ABOUT

UNITED STATES – INDIA MONITOR was imagined before inception to be a leading voice in US-India relations, politics, and Indian-American life. For well over a decade this was a successful endeavor. Since then it has morphed into covering all sorts of other abstract topics having nothing to with those original subjects, as circumstances changed and the editor realized that politics and foreign policy, news and current affairs were so laughably nonsensical that they needed to be largely avoided for physical and mental health reasons. And it seems everyone in charge of national and international affairs are doing everything wrong. A former news junkie has gotten over his daily addiction.

UNITED STATES – INDIA MONITOR was founded in May 2012 by Mahanth, a journalist, editor, and government official born in Malaysia and based in Wisconsin.  Mahanth ran a government agency for 8 years at City of Madison, and previously worked for NYC Fleet, NYC Parks, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Embassy of India to the United States, and the Indian-American Center for Political Awareness.   He served as South Asia Editor for Foreign Policy Digest and as a founding editor at Georgetown Journal of International Affairs.  His work has been published in the Capital Times, Atlantic OnlineIndia Currents,Foreign Policy Digest, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Fashion Fights Poverty Lookbook, Pakistan Defense Forum, the Georgetown Voice, the Georgetown Hoya, and other publications.  Most importantly (to some), he voiced a character for the video game Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City.  Mahanth is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, where he served as President of the South Asian Society, and a graduate of the Queens College Joseph A. Murphy Institute Urban Studies Master’s program.
